Black Sunstone is a feldspar variety of the mineral oligoclase and belongs to the plagioclase feldspar group. It has a hardness of 6-6.5 on the Mohs scale and can be found in igneous rocks. The stone exhibits a distinct sheen, often referred to as the "aventurescence" effect, which is caused by microscopic inclusions of hematite or goethite, creating an iridescent surface with multiple colors visible when it’s moved in the light. It also contains rare metallic copper inclusions that create small flashes of sparkles throughout its surface.
