About Kambaba Jasper
Kambaba Jasper (khumbaba, Kumbaba stone, and Khambab stone) is known as Crocodile Jasper, crocodile stone, or crocodile rock and is formerly known as Green stromatolite jasper. Kambaba Jasper is a black and green rhyolitic (volcanic) stone or vulcanite. It has a recognizable blackish with blue-green algae-shaped patterns that look like stromatolites. This rare orbicular variety stunning stone is not a jasper, but is actually a rock. A sedimentary stone consisting of feldspar, aegirine (pyroxene), amphibole (hornblende), and microcrystalline quartz. Kambaba Jasper can be found in the west-central bongolava region, Madagascar, India, the Netherlands, South Africa, France, Brazil, Belgium, Germany, and the USA.
"The EPI-Institute in Germany has studied the rock by thin section and XRD. The greenish colored rock consist of the minerals quartz, pyroxene (aegirine), albite, and K feldspar. The characteristic, blackish, rounded aggregates consist of needles of amphiboles (riebeckite to paragasite in composition).
